A safe place to begin

Your story is more than the hardest thing that has happened to you.

You may be carrying the effects of trauma, grief, crime, conflict or experiences that are difficult to explain, or you may simply know that something no longer feels right...

At Amani, you do not need to arrive with all the answers. Support begins by creating a space where your experience can be heard with care, understood without judgement and explored at a pace that respects your safety.

Ways Amani may support you

Amani brings together three connected areas of practice. Each is grounded in relational safety, careful understanding and respect for the people, communities and environments involved.

Root cause healing

Understanding begins when we look beneath the surface.

Trauma, crime, conflict and disconnection do not exist in isolation. They are shaped by our experiences, our relationships, the systems around us and the environments in which we live.

Amani brings together counselling, criminology, victimology and conservation because each offers a different way of understanding what has happened, why it matters and what may support a more peaceful way forward.

The aim is not to define your story for you. It is to help create the safety, context and understanding from which restoration may begin.

Meet Janika

"I believe that people begin to restore a sense of safety and connection when they feel genuinely seen, heard and understood."

I am Janika Cumpsty, a registered counsellor with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners. My work brings together trauma-informed counselling, psychology, criminology and victimology, alongside a deep interest in the relationship between human wellbeing and the natural world.

I do not believe that people can be reduced to a diagnosis, a behaviour or the most difficult experience of their lives. My role is to create a safe and thoughtful space in which your story can be explored with curiosity, compassion and respect.
